Okay tumblr world, help me out with just a few clicks. Please.

I’m trying to raise money ($350 by mid-March) for kids with medical issues. If all of you who follow me, and strangers who stumble across this blog, were to donate just $1 in the next few days, I would reach that goal and more.

My part in this fundraiser is not only to collect money and raise awareness, but if I’m 1 of 6 in my organization to raise the most money by next Tuesday, February 21st, I get to dance on March 31st from 12 PM until April 1st at 2 PM. Straight through. And this is something that I actually want to do.

Now, why on earth would I want to be on my feet for 26 hours?

Because it is nothing compared to what these kids go through.

These kids, of all age ranges, go through chemo on a daily basis, or have brain surgery, or just stay in the hospital for weeks or months on end. Besides the physical pain that they go through, there’s emotional and mental issues that can and do arise in living with such afflictions.

I wish to receive no credit in dancing for 26.2 hours (the odd number representing a marathon, but non-miles). These kids are the point of Dance Marathon 2012. They need this fundraiser. Via the Gainesville Children’s Miracle Network, the money can directly benefit the kids through technology, recreation, and research. Last year alone, UF students were able to raise $713,000, summing to a total of $4.5 million in the last 17 years. I want to be a part of that this year, and turn it into an even bigger number.

So, can you help me out? Even if you just donate $0.50, it would be a blessing. Think of it this way: it’s less than the cheapest fast food item, it’s about the same cost as a doughnut, it’s about 1/7 tank of gas, and it’s certainly much cheaper than a cup of Starbucks.
